These days, most of my favorite makeup products come from TikTok and YouTube recommendations — and one brand that I've been seeing a lot of lately is Exa Beauty. The clean makeup brand first came to my attention when Olivia Rodrigo used the Exa Beauty High Fidelity Foundation in a GRWM video on YouTube. Rodrigo's skin looked so glowy on camera, I knew I had to try the foundation out for myself. I grabbed the Exa Bundle ($99) and opted for the Exa Beauty Jump Start Smoothing Primer ($34), High Fidelity Balancing Color Corrector ($27) in Pink, and finally the High Fidelity Foundation ($38) in Gretta 460.

What I Like About the Exa Beauty High Fidelity Foundation

The High Fidelity Foundation is lightweight, buildable, and has a semi-satin finish that gives skin a luminous, natural glow. Upon application, I noticed that the High Fidelity foundation had a barely there, almost silky feel. The product was easy to blend out with my makeup sponge and hands (a major plus if you ever find yourself without your makeup brushes or sponges). It also didn't pill when applied over my skin-care products, sunscreen, or primer. The foundation evened out my skin tone, and the appearance of sunspots and hyperpigmentation without completely covering up my freckles. I prefer light to medium coverage foundations, and Exa Beauty's fit the bill — though this can definitely be built up to be a full coverage foundation. And thanks to ingredients like soothing maqui berry and hyaluronic acid my skin looked hydrated and healthy.

What's Worth Noting About the Exa Beauty High Fidelity Foundation

This is a clean foundation that comes in an impressive range of shades, looks and feels natural on the skin, and has the best staying power of all the clean foundations I've tried. I used the foundation with the Exa Beauty primer, but even without it, I found that I didn't have issues with the foundation moving around or creasing.

Who the Exa Beauty High Fidelity Foundation Is Best For

The High Fidelity Foundation is formulated to work for all skin types, and works best for anyone who is trying to achieve that glowy, fresh-faced look. This foundation is also great for people who struggle to find a shade that works for their skin tone. With 43 shades to choose from and a shade finder tool that helps narrow down your options, it was pretty easy to find a shade that worked for me. The shade finder tool asks about your shade family, skin undertones, skin type, and more to find your match. The tool also provides reference photos, videos, and reviews from real people who tested out the foundation shade you were recommended. Alternatives to your recommended shade are also available, in case you feel like you need to go a few shades darker or lighter.

Additional Details

  • The foundation is clean, vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and dermatologist-approved.
  • It's packed with anti-pollution actives that shield against free radicals and urban pollution.
